Dags för charmig pop från staterna igen.
Denna gång är det duon Chec som består av Elliot Cain och Cooper Holzman. De båda är baserade i Los Angeles och har gjort musik tillsammans i åtta år. Bland annat släppt en EP och en knippe singlar.
Nu är de aktuella med den medryckande och charmiga Up 2 U.
Herrarna berättar:
”The track describes the struggle of being in a relationship with someone who expects every aspect of the relationship to go a certain way. If something goes wrong, then everything is wrong. It’s like building a paper town and watching it burn from a single spark. A friend of mine was with this girl, and it seemed like every week he was trying to repair some problem that she created out of nothing. They actually stayed together for a while, but I don’t think they were ever very happy. After letting her dictate the whole affair for months, he just stopped caring. When she broke up with him, I think he was just happy that he didn’t have to fix anything anymore. I dedicate this track to him.
Unlike any of our other recordings, this arrangement raced through many forms in the first day of working on it. Elliot had been singing this melody/lyric around the house for a week beforehand, so we just dove into it and made a cliche/pop/EDM beat that sounded really stupid. I brought in Mike Gordon (Mk.Gee), our very talented guitarist friend, to spice it up a little. The part that he threw in inspired a completely different feel, so I overcompensated for the original generic vibe and went all in on the pauses and choppiness of the idea that Mike put out. Elliot and I were ecstatic to have such an intriguing vibe that still could make sense to a general audience. I’m pretty sure Elliot and I agree that the coin drops in the verses are a major highlight.”
