”The first verse of the song portrays someone having a panic attack, and the narrator’s body seems to be waging war against his psyche, while his ”insides” are ”turning inside out,” his bloodstream a ”traitor.” But there are also phrases that suggest the song could be about growing older, approaching middle age, specifically the second verse which refers to a family portrait from the early 1980s, followed by the line, ”Kiddo what’s become of you?” Perhaps the song is about drug detoxification? Notice how the first verse is similar to John Lennon ’s Cold Turkey . I’ll let you offer your take .”
