Pool Toys är ett indiepopband från Los Angeles i soliga Kalifornien. Tillsamman gör de melankoliska poplåtar för sorgsna människor. Som med deras andra singel Karenina som precis släpptes. Låten inspirerades av Anna Karenina, som titeln kanske skvallrar lite om. Speciellt texten “All the variety, all the charm, all the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow”.

”For the song, I envisioned a modern day Anna; a girl on exchange in Berlin who — despite her obvious comforts and love from her friends and family — continued to run obsessively towards unknown desires. She would be the type to find the beauty in being lost, bemoan the conventional, and come fully alive in the early morning glow of her room, when the shadows dance along the walls. Throughout the process of writing, I realized I had my own Anna — someone I used to love, always on the run, always searching for something more.”
