Snow Globe är något så trevligt som en jul- / vinterplatta från den klassiska synthpopgruppen Erasure , producerad av gruppen tillsammans med Gareth Jones och Richard X .
Det går inte att ta miste på att det är just Vince Clarke och Andy Bell som ligger bakom skivan, för deras igenkännande synthpopiga ljudbild är tydlig även när de sjunger klassiska jullåtar som The Christmas Song och White Christmas .
Med sju helt nyskrivna låtar samt sex traditionella jullåtar får vi nästan ett helt nytt ”riktigt” album från gruppen, som faktiskt funkar förvånansvärt bra även utanför högtiden.
Dock är det mest de nya låtarna som gör albumet bra. Deras versioner på klassiska jullåtarna kan man väl i ärlighetens namn ha eller mista. De är trevliga, men lite för traditionella även för att Erasure ska kunna göra något magiskt med dem. Även om jag verkligen uppskattar deras vackra Silent Night .
Nej, då är det de flesta nya låtarna som är roligast för mig. De är popigt som jultomtens verkstad på speed och som sagt, de känns inte så direkt juliga, men har en del julreferenser i texterna här och där, vilket är trevligt.
Vill ni ha klassisk Erasure när de är så bra som de inte varit på länge, så ska ni slänga in Bells of love , Make it Wonderful , Loving Man och There’ll be no tomorrow i en spellista, så har ni säsongens bästa synth-EP.

There is no mistaking that it’s Vince Clarke and Andy Bell behind the album, you can spot their synth pop productions by a mile, even when they sing classic Christmas songs like The Christmas Song and White Christmas .
With seven brand new songs and six traditional Christmas songs, we get almost a whole new ”real” album from the group, which actually works surprisingly well even outside the festive season.
However, it’s the brand new new songs that make the album great. Their versions of classic Christmas carols doesn’t bring that much to the table . They are nice, but a bit too traditional even for Erasure to be able to do some magic with them. Although I really appreciate their beautiful Silent Night .
No, it’s the new songs that are most appreciated for me. They are joyful pop music as Santa’s workshop on crack and as I said, they do not feel that Christmas:y, but has some references to the season here and there in the lyrics, which is nice.
Would you like classic Erasure when they are as good as they haven’t been in a long time, then you throw in Bells of love , Make it Wonderful , Loving Man and There’ll be no tomorrow in a playlist and you have this seasons best synth EP .
