Dags för ännu en debutant här i bloggen. Denna gång är det 22-åriga Sophie Blair från universitetsstaden Provo i Utah, USA som släpper singeln Don’t be like that! En bubblande poplåt med tydlig hitproduktion som färgats av 80-talet.
Låten är första smakprovet från sångerskans kommande EP som hon arbetat fram tillsammans med producenten Nate Pyfer.
Om sitt musikskapande berättar Sophie:
”I write pop music. To me, pop music is about telling people about your own experiences in a way that feels familiar to them. It’s about sharing stories in unique ways, to heighten feelings and experiences, learning how to grind out realness while a bass beat is pounding, letting intimate confessions shine through hooks, production, all of that. It’s not always done right, and it’s especially not always done well. But when it is, when all the pieces are there and you’re at a party in last night’s dress, drinking someone’s boxed wine and getting that gnawing sense that you’re really not going to be young forever; when the bass drops at that one venue seeing that one band when the lights start flashing and everyone’s screaming and you have a second of losing and then recapturing your fleeting sense of self, when you hear that song and you feel something, that’s when there’s magic. That’s what I’m trying to capture; what I’m trying to create. It’s a drug I can’t quit because I see the way we – as lovers, as feelers, as criers, as kids – hang onto music, and in return, it never lets us go.”
